I'm Different

It would seem,
that I blog in stints.
I have reactions to things.
But, I have changed in my old age.
I no longer unleash a storm of words that haven't been carefully thought out.
I marinate.
I think.
I choose.

Last night, Celebrity Apprentice was cut short so that The President could make an announcement.
He said that Osama Bin Laden had been killed.
I watched as Americans gathered outside The Whitehouse, Times Square, Ground Zero, and other places.
They were chanting and singing and celebrating.
I felt like something might be wrong with me.
I wasn't excited or jumping up and down.
I wasn't frantically posting away on Facebook.

Today, I came across this quote and it struck home immediately.

"I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
- Martin Luther King, Jr.

In one instant my feelings were validated.
Sometimes, it's okay to be different.
